Treatment of Active Facial Lines

Forehead line and wrinkles are a part of the aging process as well as overactive facial muscles between the eyebrows, forehead, and eyes. With age, there is significant loss of collagen and elastin which makes the skin loose and sagging.

This does not look good aesthetically, especially in transgenders. This can however be treated with Botox Injections to relax the overactive muscles and improve the wrinkles and lines. In some cases, dermal fillers in the form of Hyaluronic acid injections are also effective.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers are basically used for aging transgenders to replenish the volume of the soft tissues that is lost due to the process of aging and give the facial features feminine shape and contour. The most preferred dermal filler is hyaluronic acid. There are no chances of a reaction to dermal fillers due to them being biocompatible.

Hormone Replacement Therapy

This is an absolute must for transgenders. This is also known by the name of cross-sex hormone therapy. In this therapy, hormones either in the form of injectable or medications are given to the transgender to give them the characteristics of their desired gender identity.

The hormones given are different depending on whether the transgender requires feminine characteristics or masculine characteristics. In cases of feminine characteristics, the patient will be given estrogens and anti-androgens and for masculine characteristics androgen and antiestrogens are given.

Skin Peels

This is a common procedure done to rejuvenate the skin. It removes the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin thereby stimulating new cell growth. This growth of healthy cells gives the skin a smooth appearance and healthy complexion. This procedure is quite useful for aging transgenders. Some of the benefits of skin peeling in transgenders include

  • Reduce wrinkles and fine lines
  • Improved and supple skin
  • Acne scar reduction
  • Skin tightening
